J.P. Instruments was founded in 1986 in Huntington Beach, California, USA. Its founder, Joseph Polizzotto, is now the current CEO. Joe was educated at Villanova University as a mechanical engineer, who started his career in the 1960’s at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford Connecticut.

Following the success of the Scanner™ came the EDM-500.™ The EDM-500™ was actually the predecessor to the EDM-700™ series, and in fact originated as an concept, while in the car on the way to Hollywood Florida, just before the “Sun n’ Fun” air show. However, the exact parameters as to how the EDM was going to record and display data took several years for its completion, in addition to a lot of customer and market input. In the meantime, the Classic Scanner ™ (which is still available for the budget conscious pilot) paid the bills and kept the company on its feet.

Nowadays, J.P. Instruments has added a whole line of reliable and cost effective aircraft instrumentation to its name. Among these are engine data management systems, fuel flow gauges, and GPS moving maps. Pilots and mechanics alike have come to know JPI for its high quality, good service, and utmost reliability.

EDM 700/800

If you are looking for a cost effective solution to monitor your engine using our time proven EDM technology, take a look at the EDM 800/800 series. The main difference between the two is the EDM800 includes fuel flow as part of the package. These Plasma screen have been delivering engine information for millions of flight hours and fit in a standard panel hole. They are fully automatic, yet allow the user to select any readout, and of course offer LOP as well as ROP leaning displays. Stored parameters are updated every few seconds and can be downloaded and viewed using our free EzTrend software.

EDM 730/830

With a full color LCD display, you can almost think of the EDM 730/830 as your personal flight engineer. With an offset housing, the EDM can fit into a standard panel hole and positioned vertical or horizontally. Like all our EDM products it can connect to your GPS for accurate fuel planning, and fuel burn to destination. The bright, sunlight readable display, is self adjusting. JPI EDM’s are always there, working in the background, constantly watching over your engine while you concentrate on flying the aircraft. You can make an entire flight without ever pushing a button, if you so choose. An optional flush mount bracket available.

EDM 900 Primary

If you are redoing your panel consider a primary JPI EDM. With the 900 on board, you can remove many of your old engine gauges, and open up valuable space in your panel, and fly with peace of mind knowing the JPI will alert you instantly if any of the parameters exceeds the programmed limit. Like the 730/830, the EDM 900 is offset, and can fit both directions in your panel. Using the USB port data can be downloaded using free EzTrend software, or easily updated with a thumb drive. Non certified information can user configured. The EDM 900 is a TSO’d, compact and very easy to use and read in flight.

EDM 930

If you are looking for a larger, Primary engine gauge replacement, the TSO’d EDM 930 (3.3″ deep -5.584″ wide – 5.11″ high) will flush mount into your panel. With a large sunlight readable, LCD display, JPI’s flagship monitor offers almost unlimited options and configurations. 7 or 9 cylinder, no problem for all JPI products, and our fast response grounded EGT probes and copper tipped CHT probes are by far the highest quality hardware available. EDM 760

The EDM 760 advisory twin monitor is a cost effective choice for any twin. Using the latest microprocessor technology, the EDM will monitor up to twenty-four critical parameters in your engine, four times a second, with a linearized thermocouple accuracy of better than 0.1 percent or 2 F° which has been verified and tested by the FAA and thus TSO’d (Technical Standard Order). the EDM is constantly “red-line” checking all 29 critical parameters (not 16) that are automatically checked FOUR TIMES A SECOND, regardless of current display status. Fly with confidence knowing that aircraft have flown millions of hours using JPI monitors.

EDM 790

The EDM 790 adds a sunlight readable screen LCD screen with over 30 functions available. EDM 960 Twin

The EDM 960 is TSO certified as a primary flight instrument. With the 960 on board, you can remove many of your old engine gauges, and open up valuable space in your panel. Featuring one DAU per engine, only 2 wires run back to the display in the cockpit. (see “fact sheet” on right) No thermocouple wires in the wings! Fly with confidence as your EDM 960 acts as your full time on-board flight engineer. Install will be simplified with the DAU, giving you the best EDM setup currently available.
