Pitot Tubes

Aircraft pitot tubes scan the static and dynamic pressure, and that enables determining the aircraft airspeed. A pitot tube is an 18th century invention of Henri Pitot. Pilots use pitot tubes ever since. Basically, we are talking about two connected tubes with holes. The tubes determine the altitude of free surface and hydrodynamic altitude. The fluid stream speed is then determined by the difference in pressure formed in the tube.
